The Bookologist, Number 20 - February 12, 2004 - ISSN 1544-1997

Editorial
By Edith Reynolds
February 12, 2004

This week we have a wonderful addition to Bookologist. Mark O'Neill who is undertaking to introduce us to authors. Our first article is about Jules Verne, most appropriately because we associate him with the fantastic and here we are getting regular updates from Mars. My, what a world we live in. How long do you think it will be before all of us are trying to get the first edition of the first book written on Mars?

As for Mark, he was a bookworm from way back though it seems he took some time off for bad behavior. His career as editor of his school newspaper was the kind of stuff Archie comics were made of - and Mark's own long-suffering Mr. Weatherby was greatly relieved at his graduation.

A Scotsman transplanted to Germany for love, Mark remains an avid reader, eager writer, and caretaker to a number of toads. You can check out at least one of the 4 toads at http://continue.to/camelotonline. (The toad is the one centered on the page.)

Aside from this exciting addition, I have to thank you all for your letters. I welcome them all. This week, we have a question about leather preservative for books. Last issue we had a request for information about health care coverage for independent booksellers and I have an interview planned for later this week. Next issue will also contain our interview with Hannes Blum and will give us a look at the changes planned for that site.

This week's question about polishing books offered as yet another launch pad for a future article. Keep them coming.

Again, welcome Mark, and thanks for the Jules Verne article.
