Tis the season to decorate the shop and work on those holiday sales both on and off the Internet. This year the season seems more joyous to us since we have a new shop to show off at our holiday gala on December 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You're all invited. We'll celebrate our Grand Opening that day, and we want to invite all our friends and colleagues to share one day of food, music, and a great cast of characters. (Ina is promising to come).

The directions are easy. We're in central Connecticut at the crossroads of Rt. 8 and I84, midway between Boston and NYC. From either direction get onto I84 and take exit 22. If you were heading east, turn left under the highway and take your first left. We're a block and a half heading west. If you're heading west, take a left at the end of the exit; go past the hospital and up 2 1/2 blocks. The John Bale Book Co. is on the north side of the street, directly across from the Post Office and no. 158. We're the building with two awnings. You can park across the street in the ramp garage or behind the building. There's street parking but our meter people are relentless.

A little catch up: I had someone write to me asking for our eBay name so that they could look up our auctions. We're Balebooks and all our eBay activity is handled by Liz, who you will meet at the party. If you cannot attend, we'll take pictures of her.

As the year draws to a close I like to think about how grateful I am for so many things. This year we bought a new building and can create a bigger bookshop. My family is healthy and happy. My cat has gotten friendlier. The Internet has been a wonderful addition to our lives each and every year. And I have come to Bookologist where I have a particular fondness for the Steiners and truly enjoy meeting you through the forums and emails you send me. I do not want to let any of you down and in order to serve our readers better, I urge you to tell me what you'd like to see in Bookologist and contribute whatever you can to making the selling of books on the Internet as wonderful an occupation as bookselling through other venues has always been.

And if you cannot make our party, stop by anytime you are in the area. Our shop is open during the week and on Saturdays. I am here 99% of the time.

I hope each of our readers had a good, prosperous, healthy year. I also hope we have many more good years to come. Meanwhile, Happy Thanksgiving 2003.
