Publisher Announcement
By Ina Steiner
August 27, 2003

Several years ago, I received a letter in the mail from my doctor announcing her retirement. I was pretty upset, because I had been going to Dr. Wallace for 10 years, and really liked her and felt comfortable with her.

No one likes change, especially when they feel they have a relationship with a trusted source. So I can anticipate your reaction when I tell you that Craig Stark has decided to step down as Editor.

The time and attention that Craig put into the newsletter was truly impressive. Each issue was a gem. Craig is a gifted writer and craftsman and has strong feelings about doing things right. I have great respect for his talents, beliefs and hard work. I know he will be missed in his role as Editor.

David and I have been publishing the AuctionBytes newsletters and Web site since 1999. We launched The Bookologist this year because we know there is a wonderful community of online booksellers and we felt they deserved their own newsletter. We still believe it, so we went in search of someone who could carry on as editor. We didn't have to look far.

Edith Reynolds has been writing for AuctionBytes since February 2000. She and her husband Dan Gaeta own The John Bale Book Company in Waterbury, Connecticut. Edith is an award-winning writer, a dear person, and knowledgeable about all things relating to online bookselling. She is the perfect person to build on the firm, rich foundation Craig built.

I was only nervous that Edith would not have the time to take on the task of Editor, since she is such a busy person. In addition to managing online sales for The John Bale Book Company, she recently launched American Booksellers , a fulfillment service for booksellers that specializes in the antiquarian/used book trade.

We feel very fortunate that Edith has agreed to pick up the mantle and carry on. As with me and my new doctor, you may at first be resistant to change. But my new doctor is as caring, attentive and competent as Dr. Wallace. I know with Edith, you are also in good hands.
